CONCORDIA GOLDEN BEARS INK COLE OLSTAD FOR 2011-12 MEN’S BASKETBALL SEASON

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University head basketball coach Kelly Boe has announced the signing of Cole Olstad of Elgin, Minn. to a National Letter of Intent. Olstad, currently a senior at Plainview-Elgin-Millville High School, will join the Golden Bears for the 2011-12 basketball season.
"We are excited to have a student-athlete of Cole's caliber on and off the court join the Golden Bear family," said Coach Boe. "He's had great success at the high school level and we look forward to him achieving that level of success at the next level."

Olstad, a 6-4 195-pound wing player, is a well-rounded prep student-athlete, earning 10 letters to date in three different sports: basketball (5), football (3) and baseball (2). He's scored 2,121 career points on the hardwood heading into his senior season.

He's a three-time All-Conference performer in basketball with two All-Conference honors in football as a quarterback for the Bulldogs. He's been a two-time All-State player and has had success at the state tournament, earning All-Tournament team honors twice as well, guiding the Bulldogs to three state tournaments and two MSHSL Third Place finishes.

Off the court, Olstad maintains a 4.0 grade point average and is the top-ranked student in his high school class. He's also involved in National Honor Society and is a Bulldog Ambassador and mentor. He plans to pursue a degree in accounting/finance.

Olstad is no stranger to Concordia, where his two older sisters, Candace and Kali, were standout performers for the Golden Bear women's basketball program. His older brother, Clay, is beginning his freshman season on the men's basketball team as well.
