Chestnut Hill Men’s Tennis Garners #8 Regional Ranking from ITA

Skillman, NJ – (11/9/2010) – The Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team matched the women’s team’s #8 regional ranking as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) placed the Griffins among the top ten programs in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II East Region. Senior Mario Gutierrez (Magalia, Spain) was ranked at #14 individually.

Chestnut Hill College (3-2) went 3-2 through a fall schedule that pinned the Griffins against three, top-ten, regional opponents. Gutierrez is one of several newcomers to Head Coach Albert Stroble’s line-up. He is one of nine Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) student-athletes to be ranked in the top 15, including seven players from, top-ranked, Concordia College. Gutierrez finished the fall season with a 4-1 record and number one singles and a 2-3 mark at number one doubles.

The men’s tennis team resumes play in the spring with a trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for the Hilton Head Invitational in March.
