Bobcat Men Sprint to Fourth, Horseman All-PBC at Conference Championships

EVANS, Ga. – Georgia College men’s cross country placed fourth at the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championships Saturday morning. Six of seven runners placed in the top-30 for the Bobcats at Blanchard Woods Park, led by junior Daniel Horseman (Cohutta, Ga.) who took eighth, good for an All-PBC Second Team selection.

Pacing the Bobcats for the fourth time this season, Horseman crossed the finish line in the 5K race at 26:18. The time is the second best in school history, just seven seconds off the record Horseman set two weeks ago. Junior Rob Manning (Lawrenceville, Ga.) finished one minute later in 18th place with a time of 27:23.

Junior Colin Conroy (Dacula, Ga.) finished the race in 22nd crossing the end mark at 27:34. Freshman Philip Laskey (Marietta, Ga.) finished only three seconds behind for a 23rd place finish in his first conference meet.

Senior Tim Cary (Monroe, Ga.) took 28th place with a time of 27:55 to round out the scoring for the Bobcats.

Horseman became the first All-PBC runner for the Bobcat men since 2007, when both Josh Hollar and current Bobcat assistant coach Rich Dobson brought home the honor. All-time, Bobcat men have now won seven All-PBC accolades.

The Bobcats finished with 97 points, 15 behind third place Clayton State University. UNC Pembroke finished second with 63 points and Columbus State University won the title with 31. Columbus State’s Meshack Koyiaki shattered the course record and won the individual title with a time of 24:14.

The Bobcats are back in action Nov. 20 at 10 a.m. at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Charlotte, N.C., hosted by Queens University (N.C.).
