Alabama-Huntsville men's soccer falls 2-1 to Shorter on "Senior Day"

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Hosting Shorter for "Senior Day", the Alabama-Huntsville (4-12-0) men's soccer team fell to the Hawks (10-6-2) 2-1 on Monday afternoon at Charger Field.

The Hawks drew first blood in the contest when Matthew Dinsmore scored at 37:34 after coming in off the bench.  The 1-0 lead carried into the second half where Shorter stretched it to a two-goal cushion on a goal by Pierce Kimbi.

After going a man down in the 65th minute, the Chargers caught a break just minutes later when the Hawks were whistled for a foul in the box leading to a penalty kick for UAH.  Sophomore forward Tony Stock (Lewisville, Texas) stepped up and drilled the penalty kick to make it a 2-1 lead at 71:45.

That would be as close as the Chargers would get however as Shorter held on for the one-goal win.

Charger senior keeper Tyler Earley (Norman, Okla.) stopped a season-high dozen shots including a pair of highlight-reel stops to keep the contest close.  SC's Connor Terry made four stops in net for the Hawks.

The Chargers head to Pensacola, Fla., on Friday for the opening round of the Gulf South Conference tournament.  UAH will face West Florida or Ouachita Baptist depending on the outcome of Tuesday night's Harding/Christian Brothers contest.
