North Georgia Softball Coaching Staff Named Best In Southeast Again
Davenport and his assistant coaches, Brad Davis and Kaelin Farrington, earned the NFCA Southeast Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. This marks the second straight year the North Georgia softball coaching staff has earned the award after making back-to-back trips to the College World Series.
The North Georgia softball team captured the nation's attention in 2010 as the squad put together one of the most remarkable runs in NCAA history, winning 51 straight games, the second most in NCAA softball history.
The Saints were ranked No. 1 in every NFCA Division II regular season poll, and finished 5th in the final poll after dropping a pair of games at the National Championships in St. Joseph, Missouri, to end the year at 51-2. North Georgia is the two-time Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament champions, and have swept their way through the Southeast Regional and Super Regional each of the last two years.
Davenport has accumulated a record of 101-7 over the last two years to improve his overall record to 412-137 during his 10-year helm of the Saints softball program.
The 2010 NFCA convention brought in over 1100 coaches from around the U.S. and beyond to the San Diego area for a week of education, fellowship and fun, all revolving around the theme "Live. Learn. Coaching."
