Jordan Scores 24 as Bobcats Outlast Lady Rams 63-53

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Senior Chimere Jordan (Gray, Ga.) scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Georgia College women’s basketball team (6-1, 0-1 PBC) to an impressive home win over Winston-Salem State University (4-4, 0-0 CIAA).  This marks the second straight 20-point effort from Jordan and her third of the season.

The victory improves the Bobcats record to 6-1 overall and 4-1 at the Centennial Center.  Also helping in the cause were senior Dominique Huffin (Tucker, Ga.), who added 16 points and sophomore Karisma Boykin (Carrollton, Ga.) who tallied 13 points to go along with six rebounds and seven assists.

After leading 29-22 at the half, Winston-Salem was able to peck away and cut the deficit to three with nearly eight minutes to play.  However, some difficult shots from Jordan helped to extend the Bobcats lead to nine accompanied by clutch free-throws and stellar defense in the final minutes helped to seal the 63-53 win for the Bobcats.

The GC women’s basketball team will be off for nearly two weeks, but return to the friendly confines of the Centennial Center to play in the Georgia College Classic.  The Bobcats are set to play Newberry College Dec.29, at 7 p.m.
