Jon Crawford Earns Weekly CACC Men’s Basketball Honorable Mention

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior guard Jon Crawford earned honorable mention from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for his performance in the week ending Dec. 12, it was announced by the league office Mon. afternoon.

Crawford averaged 19.0 points and 4.0 assists per-game and shot an incredible 14-for-17 from the field to lead the Lightning to a 2-0 week with blowout wins over Wilmington and Chestnut Hill. In both those games, he also held the opposition’s best offensive player scoreless.

The 6-foot-4 guard out of Pennsauken, N.J. first scored a career-high 18 points against Wilmington on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and also dished out a career-high seven assists. Then just a few days later, he topped that performance with 20 points on a perfect shooting day against Chestnut Hill: 7-for-7 from the field (4-for-4 from behind-the-arc) and 2-for-2 from the foul line. Eighteen of Crawford’s 20 that day came in the second half.

An International Business Management major, Crawford stayed hot last night in the Lightning’s 80-70 win over Millersville, contributing 10 points. He is currently third on the team in scoring average at 9.3 points per-game and is tied for fourth on the team in assists with 17.

Crawford is the third different Lightning player to be honored from head coach Chuck Hammond’s squad this season. Fellow seniors Sam McDuffie and Terrence Parkes were also given honorable mention on Nov. 15 and Nov. 22, respectively.
