Golden Eagle Men’s Basketball Team Opens 2011 with NSIC Road Games

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men’s Basketball team opens 2011 with a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) road games on Saturday, January 1 against Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) and Sunday, January 2 against Minnesota State University (MSU). The games tip-off at 6 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.

The Golden Eagles closed out the 2010 portion of the schedule with a thrilling 55-54 home victory over Wayne State College to pick up their first NSIC win of the season. U of M, Crookston holds an overall record of 5-4 and NSIC record of 1-4. Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) is averaging 14.1 points and four rebounds per game. Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) is averaging 13.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. Jacolby Anderson (Jr, G, Lancaster, Tex.) is averaging 11.4 points per game. Adam Hendricks (Sr, G, Watertown, Minn.) is averaging 10.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Saturday, January 1                           6 p.m.

The Mustangs have an overall record of 5-5 and NSIC record of 2-4 after dropping a 68-66 decision to Winona State University on December 17 and a 75-74 overtime decision to Upper Iowa University on December 18. Jordan Miller is averaging 16 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Scott Roehl is averaging 14.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

Sunday, January 2                             4 p.m.

The Mavericks have an overall record of 9-1 and NSIC record of 5-1 after defeating Upper Iowa University 87-72 on December 17 and 20th ranked Winona State University by an 80-74 score on December 18. MSU is ranked 16th in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll. They are led by Jefferson Mason who is averaging 16.6 points and seven rebounds per game. Marcus Hill is averaging 16 points per game. Cameron Hodges is averaging 12.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.      

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
