Beekman and Kuhl Named to NSIC All-Conference Team

Stamer Tabbed Honorable Selection

Burnsville, Minn.  —  The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released its all-conference awards Tuesday. Minnesota State seniors Amanda Beekman and Kimber Kuhl named to NSIC All-Conference Team. Junior setter Brittany Stamer was tabbed NSIC All-Conference Honorable Selection.

Beekman, a native of Marshall, Minn., leads the team in kills with 321 (3.34 per set) and sits third all-time on the kills list with 1,393. Beekman recently took over the third spot all-time, which was 1,379 kills and was occupied by former MSU outside hitter, Ashley Nachreiner. She also is the owner of 13 assists, 14 service aces, 176 digs and 43 blocks. The senior outside hitter also owns 169 digs, 39 blocks, 13 assists and 11 service aces. Beekman was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 13th.

Kuhl, a native of Chaska, Minn., sits second on the team in kills with 262 and owns a team-best .342 hitting percentage, which ranks fifth in the NSIC. Kuhl also ranks second on the team with 53 blocks. She has also tallied 24 digs. Kuhl finished the 2009 season with a .354 hitting percentage, which is a new program record. The previous record holder was Kristen Schmid who finished the 1992 season with a .349 percentage.

Stamer, a native of Hutchinson, Minn., leads the Mavericks with 1,110 assists and recently joined the Maverick 3,000 Assist Club, she is the owner of 3,345 assists during her career, 126 short of fourth all-time, which is occupied by former Maverick setter Stef Sandstrom.Owner of 234 digs, 61 kills, 18 service aces, which ranks second on the team, and owns 28 blocks. Stamer was named NSIC Setter of the Week Oct. 10th.

The Minnesota State volleyball team, ranked 16th in the nation, wraps regular season action this weekend at Taylor Center as it hosts the Bemidji State Beavers (12-14 overall, 6-12 NSIC) and the #7 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs (23-4 overall, 15-3 NSIC). Friday’s contest against BSU is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m., while Saturday’s regular season finale against #7 Minnesota Duluth is slated to 4:00 p.m.
