Serra-Hsu, Stabell named to 2010 All-RMAC Teams

GOLDEN, Colo. (Nov. 9, 2010) – Colorado School of Mines’ Elizabeth Serra-Hsu and Jackie Stabell have both been named to the 2010 All-RMAC Volleyball Teams, as announced today by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Serra-Hsu, a 5’11” senior outside hitter / opposite from Davis, Calif. (Davis High School), has earned First Team All-RMAC recognition for the third consecutive season.  Serra-Hsu leads CSM in service aces (29) and is second on the squad in kills (279), digs (256) and points (337.5).  Serra-Hsu is ranked seventh in the RMAC in service aces per set (0.32), 11th in points per set (3.67), 12th in kills per set (3.03), 22nd in digs per set (2.78) and 28th in hitting percentage (.224).

Serra-Hsu, who became CSM’s all-time career leader in kills (1,486) in October, is ranked second in the CSM record book in career digs (1,429) and third in career service aces (128).  A 2010 Pre-Season All-RMAC selection, Serra-Hsu was named to the Oredigger Volleyball Classic and Angelo State University Invitational All-Tournament Teams earlier this fall.

A 6’0” sophomore outside hitter / opposite from Tomball, Texas (Tomball High School), Stabell garnered Second Team All-RMAC accolades.  Stabell leads CSM in kills (316) and points (369.0) and is second on the squad in service aces (28).  Stabell is currently ranked eighth in the RMAC in service aces per set (0.28), ninth in kills per set (3.19) and 10th in both hitting percentage (.277) and points per set (3.73).

Stabell, who garnered recognition on the 2010 Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll, was named to the Angelo State University Invitational All-Tournament Team this season, as well.

The Orediggers (19-8 overall, 12-6 RMAC) have clinched the #4 seed for the RMAC Tournament, which will be held on Thursday – Saturday, November 11th – 13th, at Nebraska-Kearney.  CSM will play #5 seed Regis University in the Quarterfinals on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.  The winner will advance into Friday’s Semifinal match at 6:00 p.m.  The Championship match will be on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.  ALL TIMES ARE MOUNTAIN DAYLIGHT TIME (Nebraska-Kearney is in the Central Daylight Time zone).

The winner of the RMAC volleyball tournament will receive an automatic berth in the 2010 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships.  Eight teams from each of the eight regions will qualify for the 2010 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships.  CSM was ranked eighth in last week’s NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings.
