EAST STROUDSBURG – Quay Baskerville had 20 points, six rebounds and five steals to claim tournament MVP honors as Felician notched a 79-51 win over East Stroudsburg University in the 46th Annual Pocono Classic presented by State Farm on Saturday night.
Katrina Plummer added 15 points and six rebounds and Tierra Cleaves had 12 points and five assists. Cleaves also claimed a spot on the All-Tournament team after posting 16 points, four rebounds and four assists in Felician’s 67-38 win over Salem International on Friday. Baskerville had 38 points, 14 rebounds and 10 steals for the weekend.
Sophomore center Kelly Sorber was ESU’s All-Tournament team selection, recording nine points, eight rebounds and a career-high five blocked shots vs. Felician and two points, eight rebounds and a block against Nyack on Friday. Victoria Sweet and Bobbi Van Fleet of Nyack and Brittany Wells of Salem International were named to the All-Tournament team.
Felician (5-1) opened the game with a 20-2 lead in the first nine minutes to pull away early. The Golden Falcons shot 48 percent from the field, 4-for-10 from the three-point line and were 25-for-35 at the foul line.
Sorber’s nine points were a game-high for the Warriors (1-4), who also got eight points each from sophomore guard Barb Borst, freshman guard Andrea Veres and freshman forward Nicole Hill. Junior guard Jennifer Scherer had seven points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
In the first game of the day, Sweet had nine points, 18 rebounds and eight assists to lead Nyack to a 62-39 win over Salem International.
The Warriors are back in action next Saturday when they host Seton Hill at 1 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse.
