ESU Football, Monroe County High Schools to Team Up with Salvation Army on Saturday

EAST STROUDSBURG – East Stroudsburg University’s football program will team up with six high schools in Monroe County and the Salvation Army to ring bells at area businesses on Saturday, December 4 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Warriors have been performing the community outreach for the last four years and have invited East Stroudsburg North and South, Pocono Mountain East and West, Stroudsburg and Pleasant Valley High Schools to join them as they raise money for the Salvation Army.

A total of 192 players and 42 coaches will be participating in the all-day affair. ESU’s players will be at the Stroud Mall in five locations – the main entrance, Bon Ton, Sears and both entrances to J.C. Penney.

East Stroudsburg South and head coach Ed Christian will be at K-Mart and Walmart in East Stroudsburg, and East Stroudsburg North and head coach Chuck Daley will be at the Odd-Lot Outlet in Marshalls Creek.

Pocono Mountain East and head coach Phil Dorn will be at The Crossings in Tannersville and Bill’s Shop Rite in Mount Pocono, and Pocono Mountain West and head coach Jim McCarroll will be at K-Mart and Walmart in Mount Pocono.

Stroudsburg and head coach Fred Ross will be at Shop Rite and Walgreens in Stroudsburg, and Pleasant Valley and head coach Jim Terwilliger will be at Kinsley’s Shop Rite in Brodheadsville.

ESU’s Denny Douds completed his 37th season as head coach and 45th year as a member of the football coaching staff in 2010. He has 229 wins and 386 games coached, both PSAC records.

The Warriors went 3-8 this season, with five losses by a touchdown or less, and had six players named to the All-PSAC East team in cornerback David Castillo, linebacker Matt Freed, safety Herschel Thornton, running back Kendrick Williams, wide receiver Ed Kiser and center Dan Caffrey.
