Emory Becomes Metro State's First-Ever First Team All-American in Men's Soccer

ROCKHURST, Mo. - Metro State men's soccer player Steven Emory became the school's first-ever first team All-American on Wednesday, earning first team honors from Daktronics.  It is just the third time Metro State has had a player named All-America by Daktronics and Emory's second time after earning second team honors a year ago.

Emory, a senior midfielder from Fort Collins, Colo., led the Roadrunners with 17 goals and 10 assists for 44 points, ranking second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in each category during conference play.  He was the only player in the RMAC to rank in the top five in all three categories.  His points total this season ranked as the third-most in school history and his goals were tied for the fourth-most.  He also put a school record 48 shots on goal this year.  Emory broke school records for consecutive games with at least one point (11) and consecutive games with at least one assist (6).

He was also named Daktronics Central Region Player of the Year this season, marking the second straight year he has earned that award.  Emory has also twice been named RMAC Player of the Year.

Metro State finished the year 12-6-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the RMAC.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
