MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons Wrestling team opened up their dual season with a matchup against NCAA Division-III No. 1 Augsburg College Auggies Wednesday night inside Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. The Dragons could not overcome Augsburg's early lead and fell by a final of 12-31.

The Dragons got their first win on the night when Jacob Bennett defeated the Auggies' Justin Bowland by a final of 7-4. Bennett gained his points by taking down Bowland twice in the second period and rode his way to a decision win.

Trent Sovde also took care of his opponent Josh Kohler by winning in a 3-1 decision in sudden victory overtime. After three periods each wrestler had one point heading into the sudden victory period where Sovde gained a last second takedown to take the match.

Evan Forde had the most decisive win for the Dragons, defeating the Auggies' Cody Madsen by a 6-1 final. Forde lead Madsen heading into the final period 3-1 and gained his second takedown to secure the win, capping it off with one more point of riding time.
