DUBOIS, Pa. - The Gannon wrestling team earned wins in eight of ten matches en route to a 38-6 victory over PSU DuBois on Wednesday evening. Four Golden Knights recorded pins and one earned a technical fall in the win.
Peter Mosher (White, Ga. / Harrison) and Chris Santucci (Bethel Park, Pa. / Bethel Park) started Gannon to an early 11-0 lead. Mosher pinned Nick Bogacki at the 2:52 mark while Santucci earned a technical fall with a 23-7 margin of victory at five minutes and 25 seconds into the bout.
Gannon would roll off four more victories, extending the lead to 29-0. Sean Floor (Westbrookville, N.Y. / Port Jervis) and Zack McKendree (Vandergrift, Pa. / Kiski Area) earned wins by pinfall at the 5:09 and 2:20 marks respectively. McKendree now has 11 wins on the season.
Scott Baron (Saegertown, Pa. / Saegertown) and Ethan Swope (Luthersburg, Pa. / DuBois Area) both won by decision. Swope recorded his team leading 12th win of the season with a 6-5 decision over Kasey Haines. Baron earned a 5-3 decision for his sixth win of the year.
Gannon’s final points came thanks to a Terry Sedney (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) decision (11-9) over Joe Shields and a Marino Quercio (Butler, Pa. / Butler) pin of Anthony Ferguson.
Gannon (1-0) earns its first dual meet victory while PSU DuBois falls to 2-6 this season. Gannon’s next action comes at the Cleveland State Open on Saturday, December 11.
