Cope Earns Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior midfielder Frank Cope (Mobile, Ala./UMS-Wright Preparatory School) became the eighth West Florida men’s soccer All-American, as he earned Daktronics All-America honorable mention on Thursday.  Cope helped lead UWF to a fifth straight Gulf South Conference championship in 2010, and the Argonauts advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

Cope, an All-GSC first team unanimous pick and a GSC All-Tournament team selection this year, was a leader in the Argonauts attack.  The junior played a variety of roles for head coach Bill Elliott, playing in the middle, on the outside, and at times moving up to forward.  Cope scored two goals on the season, and he led the team with 10 assists, giving him 14 total points.  At the start of the NCAA postseason, Cope ranked seventh in the country in assists.  The Mobile native also ranked third on the team in minutes played (1,622) this season.

Sports information directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences selected the three Daktronics All-America teams. The process begins at the regional level with all first-team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot. This is the fifth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-America and all-region teams.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA), with the online nomination and voting process powered by ATHLETICSITE.COM.
