CROOKSTON, Minn. – Cody Schilling and Cameron McCaffrey combined for 38 points and Derrick De Zeeuw grabbed 12 rebounds to help Augustana to a 81-68 victory over Minnesota, Crookston Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference basketball in Crookston, Minn.

The win was Augustana’s third straight.

The Golden Eagles evened the Vikings up four times in the first half before Augustana was able to earn a somewhat comfortable lead.  The final six minutes of the half saw Augustana take control.  A 12-2 run that spanned four minutes eventually gave the Vikings a 37-25 advance with 4:08 left until intermission.  Half of the surge came on 3-pointers from Hass and McCaffrey.

The Vikings stretched their lead to 16 points two minutes later after another McCaffrey connection from behind the arc.

Led by a combined 22 points from McCaffrey and Schilling, Augustana led 45-32 at the half.  The Vikings shot 53.1 percent from the floor in the first half and nailed seven 3-pointers.

The Vikings held a comfortable lead for most of the second half, though UMC did create a nine-point different at the 12:37 mark when it was a 43-52 game.

But Augustana kept the Golden Eagles at a comfortable distance down the stretch, never giving up more than a double-digit lead to close the game.

Both teams shot well as Augustana finished 48.2 percent from the field, while UMC checked in at 48.1 percent clip.

Augustana hit just one 3-pointer in the second half, but the Vikings’ offense received needed point from the charity stripe.  The Vikings were 15 of 21 from the line in the second half—with most of those making coming in the game’s final five minutes.

The Vikings were efficient off Golden Eagles mistakes, converting their 18 turnovers into 25 points.

Augustana finishes this weekend road series tomorrow at MSU Moorhead.  Tipoff is at 8 p.m.
