#14 Pitt-Johnstown Wrestlers Shutout Ohio Valley in Home Opener

Pitt-Johnstown, ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division II national wrestling poll, used four falls and a pair of forfeit wins to shutout Division II newcomer Ohio Valley (WV) University, 49-0, in Friday's 2010-11 home opener in the Sports Center.  David Cawley's (Pittsburgh, Pa.) pin at 141 lbs. started a string of four falls in five bouts to help the Mountain Cats improve to 2-0.
    
It was all Mountain Cats from the start.  Red-shirt freshman Dave Fogle (Summerhill, Pa.) got a first-period takedown on his way to a 4-0 win over Tyler Reed at 125 lbs., and NCAA No. 6 Ryan Link (133 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.) won by forfeit to make it 9-0 Pitt-Johnstown.
    
Pitt-Johnstown then recorded four falls and a forfeit victory in the next five matches. Cawley pinned Chris Robbins at 2:56 at 141 lbs., before Nathan Link (149 lbs.) (Cresson, Pa.) got a fall over Garrett Wireman at 4:44 to build the lead to 21-0.
    
Joe Harper (Duncannon, Pa.) was awarded a forfeit win at 157 lbs., and Gary Lantz (Delta, Pa.) and East Region No. 4 Steve Makin (Portage, Pa.) followed with pins at 165 and 174 lbs.  Lantz pinned Colbey Richards at 2:03, and Makin pinned Kobina Henriques with 1:03 left in the first period to make it 39-0 after seven bouts.
    
Pitt-Johnstown wasn't done yet.  The Mountain Cats got a 4-3 overtime win at 184 lbs. when East Region No. 3 A.J. Brentzel (Irwin, Pa.) got an escape from Brad Clark in the rideout period.  East Region No. 5 Jon Moore (Leechburg, Pa.) won a 4-0 decision over Chase Long at 197 lbs., before heavyweight and NCAA No. 4-ranked Chris Dempsey (Sewickley, Pa.) closed out the match and set the final at 49-0 with a 10-1 major decision over Blake Lucas.
    
Ohio Valley, in its first year of NCAA wrestling, slipped to 3-3.
    
The Mountain Cats travel to the Penn State Open on Sunday, before hosting East Stroudsburg University as part of a doubleheader with the Lady Cat basketball team on Wednesday.  The Lady Cats will play Slippery Rock University at 5:30 p.m. in the Sports Center, before the wrestling match at 8 p.m.
