PORTALES, N.M.— For the seventh straight season, the Eastern New Mexico University women’s soccer team has received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for its performance in the classroom. The award was initially created in 2003 and awarded following the 2003-04 season.
Each year, the NSCAA recognizes men’s and women’s soccer teams that register a grade point average of 3.0 or higher with the Team Academic Award. This for the 2009-10 year, the Zias were one of 437 women’s soccer teams, including four other Lone Star Conference teams to receive the award. Last year, Eastern posted a 3.34 GPA.
