Hampton, VA… The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Cross Country Coaches Association has selected its 2010 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year.
Inez Turner of Winston-Salem State University has claimed both the Men’s and Women’s Team top accolade. The Rams and Lady Rams swept this season’s Cross Country Championship with final team scores of 26 and 34 points, respectively.
This is a year of firsts for Turner and her squad. This season marks Coach Turner’s first year at the helm for the Rams; WSSU’s first-ever cross country championship for the sport and the school’s first year back in the conference after a near five-year hiatus.
The WSSU Rams also fared well regionally, with Andrew Chebii-Singh placing 20th
at the NCAA D-II Atlantic Regional, hosted by St. Augustine’s College
Coach Turner will be formally recognized at the CIAA Coach of the Year Luncheon scheduled for May 2011.
