Women's Soccer: Webb Voted GNAC Player-of-the-Year

Saint Martin's forward Jill Webb has been selected the 2010 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Year.

Webb led the GNAC in scoring this season with 35 points. She also led the league in total goals with 13 and tied for the lead in assists with nine. She finished her career ranked fifth in GNAC history in total points with 101 and first in points per game averaging 1.80 per contest.

Montana State Billings head coach Don Trentham, who guided the Yellowjackets to a 12-5-1 record and a second-place finish in the GNAC, was voted the GNAC Coach-of-the-Year .

Trentham, who is a 1999 graduate of Columbia College, has a career record of 84-74-10 in nine seasons at MSUB. The Yellowjackets will compete in their first-ever NCAA Division II national tournament beginning Thursday in Seattle.

GNAC champion Seattle Pacific, which is the No. 1 seed and one of two hosts for the West Regionals, swept the remaining special awards as goalkeeper Maddie Dickinson was voted the GNAC Defensive Player-of-the-Year and Kendall Thoreson and Kellie Zakrzewski were selected the GNAC Newcomer-of-the-Year and GNAC Freshman-of-the-Year , respectively.

Dickinson has a 0.49 goals against average this fall and posted eight shutouts in leading SPU to a 15-1-2 record. She is the GNAC all-time leader in save percentage (.859) and ranks second in career goals against (0.49) and career shutouts (27).

Thoreson, who transferred to SPU from Northwestern, scored three goals and ranked third in the conference in assists with eight. Zakrzewski had eight goals and three assists for the Falcons and is tied for fifth in the GNAC in scoring, averaging 1.12 points per game.

Seattle Pacific also led the all-conference selections, placing four players on the first team. Western Washington, Simon Fraser and MSU Billings each put two players on the first team, while Saint Martin's had one.

Two players – Webb and Seattle Pacific forward Megan Lindsay, were unanimous selections, while two – Webb and Western Washington forward Claire Morgan – earned first team honors for the third year in a row. Dickinson and Viking defender Alicia Patten were also repeat selections from a year ago.
