Wingate Men's Soccer Ranked 16th in Division II Poll

Mission, Kan.----The Wingate University men’s soccer team is ranked number 16 in this week’s NSCAA/HendrickCars.com NCAA Division II top 25 poll. Wingate is listed for the fourth week this season. The Bulldogs (14-2-0 overall) are the number three team in the Southeast Region, according to the coaches’ poll.

The Wingate men’s soccer team shared the regular season South Atlantic Conference title and will be the number one seed in this week’s Food Lion SAC tournament. Wingate will host the eighth-seeded Tornados of Brevard College Wednesday night at the WU Soccer Complex. The Wingate Sports Network will provide a pay-per-view video broadcast of the contest.

Senior forward Jamie McKenna (Blackpool, England) has 12 goals, tops on the SAC charts. His 27 points rank second in the SAC. Sophomore forward Gui Lima (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has eight goals, tied for eighth in the conference. Junior midfielder Fabricio Barancoski (Sao Paulo, Brazil) is 10th in the league with seven goals.

Senior All-American midfielder Luke Mulholland (Preston, England) is second in the conference with his nine assists. Senior midfielder Jack Vundum (Birmingham, England) is fourth in the league with eight assists and ninth with 20 points. Wingate leads the league in goals per game, assists per game, points per game, goals allowed and goals against average.

Clayton State (Ga.) University is the number one team in the region and the number four team in the top 25. Flagler (Fla.) College is the number two team in the region and the number 11 team in the top 25. The remainder of the regional top eight includes Wingate, Montevallo (Ala.), Lees-McRae, Carson-Newman, Anderson and Erskine.
