Missouri Western Falls 3-0 on the Road Against Nebraska-Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – The Missouri Western volleyball team lost a close three set battle with the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks falling by scores of 25-22, 28-26 and 25-23. Tahler Johnston paced the Griffons with eight kills in the match. Western falls to 12-14 overall and 8-9 in MIAA action.

In set one the Griffons led 17-14 but gave up 11 of the final 16 points to fall 25-22. The Griffons hit .158 in the set with 12 kills. UNO had 15 kills hitting .263 in set one.

Once again the Griffons jumped out to a lead. This time Western took a commanding 18-10 lead but once again would get out scored down the stretch. UNO won 18 of the final 26 points to claim the victory 28-26 and take a two set lead. Western had 13 kills hitting .125 while the Mavericks had 13 kills hitting .213.

In the final set the Griffons took an 18-15 lead but could not get it done falling 25-23 giving up 10 of the final 17 points. Western finished the night hitting .110 with 37 kills. They also had 34 assists and 57
digs in the match. Stephanie Hattey had 21 set assists while Meghan Voelz finished with 22 digs.

The Mavericks improve to 16-14 overall and 6-12 in MIAA play. They had 42 kills and 56 digs in the match. Kayla Uhing had 16 kills while Angie Reicks finished with 20 digs.

The Griffons will return to action on Saturday, November 6 when they travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to take on the 7th ranked Central Missouri Jennies in MIAA action. First serve is set for 6:30 pm in the UCM Multipurpose Building.
