UCO's Friday named LSC North Player of the Week

RICHARDSON, Texas (Nov. 29) -- Central Oklahoma's Brent Friday has been named Lone Star Conference North Division Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by the league office.

Friday, who won LSC North Defensive Player of the Week honors last week, had back-to-back career high scoring nights in leading the unbeaten and No. 10-ranked Bronchos to a pair of wins in  the UCO/Fairfield Inn Invitational last weekend.

The junior guard from Putnam City North High School, averaged 22.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists a contest while shooting 73.1 percent (19-of-26) from the field in wins over Oklahoma Panhandle and Missouri Western.

Friday scored a career-best 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting with a 3-pointer in just 26 minutes of a 91-59 rout of the Aggies and he bettered that the next night with 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting while also tying a career-high with eight rebounds in a 92-86 win over MWSU.  Friday scored 12 of those 24 points in the final 10 minutes as UCO overcame a nine-point deficit.

The Bronchos, who have equaled the best start in school history at 7-0, return to action Thursday with a league crossover game at Incarnate Word.
