Tusculum's Caitlyn Dean leads nation in digs

INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College’s Caitlyn Dean leads the nation in digs according to this week’s NCAA Division II volleyball statistics.

Dean, a freshman libero from Fort Wayne, Ind., is averaging 6.88 digs per set, while the Pioneers (22-5, 16-2 in South Atlantic Conference) are second in the land in team digs, averaging 19.48 per frame.
                                                               
Tusculum is also 27th in the country in won-loss percentage (.815) as the Pioneers are off to their best start to a season in school history as a NCAA member institution.  TC’s 16-2 league slate is the best conference finish since joining the SAC in 1999.

Sophomore middle hitter Alyssa Raterman (Urbana, Ohio) leads the Pioneers with a .348 hitting percentage, which is 34th in the nation.  Freshman setter Ashley Sarmiento (Dayton, Ohio) is 26th in the land, averaging 10.36 assists per set, which is the best in the conference.

Tusculum is also 47th in kills per set (13.00 kps) and 50th in assists per set (11.91 aps).

The Pioneers will close out the regular season on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at Augusta State University in Augusta, Ga.
