Stark Leads Warriors Volleyball in Senior Night Match vs. Kutztown

EAST STROUDSBURG – Senior outside hitter Alyson Stark had nine kills and 10 digs to lead East Stroudsburg University in a 3-0 loss to Kutztown in PSAC East women’s volleyball on Friday night at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Stark and classmates Brianne Bachman, Emily Detter and Lindsey Lullo were recognized before the match in the Warriors’ Senior Night ceremony. All four players will be four-year letterwinners and earned multiple selections to the Dean’s List at ESU. They will finish their careers on Saturday when ESU hosts Cheyney at 12 p.m.

Stark moved into a tie for fourth in school history with 1,028 career kills and just missed her 12th career double-double and 54th career match with double-figure kills.

Lullo had 17 digs and went over the 1,600-dig mark for her career at ESU while moving into third on the single-season list with 597 digs this year. Bachman had three kills and four blocks, climbing to fifth in career blocks (226) for the Warriors, and Detter had four kills and five digs.

Freshman middle blocker Ashley Lesniak added seven kills and Elizabeth Madden had four kills while playing the third set.

Freshman setter Allye Preziosi had 30 assists, reaching the mark for the 13th time this year, and chipped in with six digs and two blocks. Preziosi received ESU’s Alumni Volleyball Scholarship in a brief ceremony prior to the match.

State Farm also presented a check for $18,000 as a partner with ESU athletics. State Farm was the title sponsor of the ESU Volleyball Classic and the PSAC Volleyball Crossover and will also be the presenting sponsor of the 46th Annual Pocono Classic basketball tournament at Koehler Fieldhouse.

Kutztown won all three sets, 25-19, to improve to 21-8 (10-8 PSAC). The Warriors will look for their 10th win of the season on Saturday vs. Cheyney as they complete their 2010 season.
