Otters Fall In Three To Sonoma State

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women’s volleyball team was swept in three by Sonoma State tonight at the Kelp Bed. The final scores were 25-19, 25-15 and 25-23.

Junior outside hitter Rheann Fall recorded her 13th double-double of the season, finishing with 18 kills and 15 digs.  Junior middle hitter Melanie Lashbrook added nine kills, three service aces and three blocks. Junior libero Dionna Lucas notched 13 digs.

Sonoma State was led by Keala Peterson’s 13 kills and Allyson Sather contributed 11 kills. Three Seawolves finished in double-digits in digs; Peterson, Hayley Ross and Kendahl Batiste.

After dropping the first two sets, the Otters came out strong in the third by taking a 12-7 lead.  The Seawolves battled back and tied it at 16-16. Both teams battled back and forth for the next few points until the Otters scored three straight points to take a 23-20 advantage.  The Seawolves then went on a 5-0 run to take the victory.

The Otters host Humboldt State tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
