COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado-Colorado Springs’ Nikki Kinzer had 16 kill and Alex Nuttall added 10 more to lead the Mountain Lions to a 25-10, 25-12, 25-13 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory over Chadron State Friday evening at the Gallogly Center.
With the win UCCS improves to 16-11 and 10-7 in the RMAC, but more importantly the Mountain Lions secured a berth in the conference playoffs beginning next week in Kearney.
With the loss, Chadron State falls to 2-23 and 1-16 in the RMAC. The Eagles will play their season finale tonight (Saturday) against Colorado School of Mines in Golden. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The Mountain Lions only trailed once in the three sets. They had a team hitting percentage of .411 and eight players registered kills.
Lindsey Stich finished with a match-high 40 set assists and both Sonja Johnson and Kendall Utz had 13 digs.
Seven CSC players got involved in the offensive attack. Mollie Jones led the Eagles with five kills and Lauren Yoder had four more. Ashley Bargen, Lexi Hoagland and Noelle Jones each added three kills and Skye Duncan had 18 set assists.
Kristina Harter led the CSC defense with 13 digs and Jones finished with three total blocks.
