GOLDEN, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Jackie Mays, Siarhei Piletski, Jesse Dennis and Sarah Moore completed the sweep of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week as announced today by the RMAC.
Mays and Piletski were named the Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week while Dennis and Moore were tabbed Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Week. The Mines swimming & diving teams hosted Adams State and Colorado College on Saturday, Nov. 13th and won 27 of the 32 events.
Mays, a freshman from Colorado Springs, Colo. (Rampart H.S.), won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team on Saturday. Mays swam the third leg of the 200 medley relay which CSM won with a time of 1:56.15. Individually, Mays was the top finisher in the 100 butterfly (1:02.10) and the 50 freestyle (25.32).
Piletski, a senior from Denver, Colo. (George Washington H.S.), earned Swimmer of the Week honors for the second time in his career. Piletski helped the CSM men win the 200 medley relay by nearly four seconds with a time of 1:38.41. Piletski won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:11.50 which ranks him in the top 20 in that event in Division II. Piletski was also the top finisher with a time of 54.80 in the 100 backstroke.
Dennis, a senior from Kirkland, Ariz. (Yavapi C.C.), earned Diver of the Week honors for the sixth time. Dennis won both the 1-meter (206.40) and 3-meter (228.65) events on Saturday.
Moore, a sophomore from Littleton, Colo. (Chatfield H.S.), won both the 1-meter (236.90) and 3-meter event (239.20). Moore has now been named Diver of the Week eight times during her career at Mines.
Mines will be on the road for its next competition in Grand Junction, Colo. CSM will compete in the two-day Mesa State Invite on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 3rd and 4th.
