EASTON, MA – The Merrimack women’s cross country team, ranked 10th in the east region, tied for sixth at the Northeast-10 Invitational Sunday morning at Stonehill College.
Rebecca Ainscow (Derry, NH) was the Warriors’ top runner, placing 24th in 19:20.8, 29 seconds faster than her last performance at the Mayor’s Cup, while Anne Bajor (Methuen, MA) was 36th in 19:40.0. Caitlin Kasala-Halinan (Worcester, MA) was 50th in 20:02.9, while Christina Fisher (Mansfield Center, CT), Ashley Sarris (Shelton, CT), and Kacey Pickett (Plymouth, MA) each finished in the top-80.
AIC’s Jeptui Cherutich was the top runner in 18:02.3, while Stonehill’s Jill Alves was second, and SCSU’s Alasia Griebel third.
Stonehill captured the team event, with UMass Lowell, Saint Rose, Bentley and Southern Connecticut rounding out the top five.
The Warriors were picked to finish 9th according to the Northeast-10 Coaches Preseason Poll.
Merrimack competes at the Northeast Regionals on September 21.
