HPU was led by Adrian den Dulk who scored 15 points and pulled down six rebounds. Nick Frazier and Kyle Allen each added 10 points with LaBrent Chappell recording eight points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
Carter Biewen led Carlton, scoring a game-high 26 points on 6-9 shooting from three-point range.
HPU grabbed an early 8-2 lead on a Kameron Steinhoff layup but Carlton responded to take a 13-12 lead almost midway through the first half. Steinhoff finished with six points and six rebounds for the Sea Warriors.
HPU led by two points at halftime, and pushed the lead to 10 points midway through the second half. Royal Edwards (4 pts, 2 reb) scored to give HPU a 51-41 lead with 11:29 to play. Carleton closed the gap down the stretch but HPU never relinquished the lead.
The Sea Warriors next travel to Fairbanks, Alaska for the Glacier Classic hosted by the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. They first play Alaska-Anchorage on Friday, December 3, at 5:15 p.m. Pacific Time.
