Falcons Selected to Host First and Second Rounds of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team (18-2-1) was selected as the No. 1 seed in the Southeast Region and will host the First and Second Rounds of the 2010 NCAA Tournament on Varsity Field. The Falcons are one of just 32 teams nationwide to be selected to the Tournament. The Falcons will host matches on Friday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, No. 14. UM will play its first match Friday at 7 p.m. against the winner of the four seed versus five seed match which features Wingate University and Anderson University.

The Wingate, Anderson match will take place Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. (EST) on the campus of No. 4 seed Wingate.

This is the Falcons fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament and first as a No. 1 seed. UM is 2-3-2 all-time in NCAA Tournament competition and have advanced as far as the National Semifinals in 2007.

Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler College was selected as the No. 2 seed and will face the winner of the No. 3 seed versus No. 6 seed match. Clayton State was selected as the No. 3 seed while Lees-McRae was selected sixth.

More information on tickets, lodging, restaurants and other amenities will be available on the Southeast Region Tournament website which will be launched in the next few days.
