Demery named Daktronics West region player of the year

HILO, Hawaii -- In a vote by the region's Sports Information Directors, freshman Karenee Demery was named the Daktronics/CoSIDA West region play of the year on Tuesday.

Demery, a forward from Merced, was the California Collegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable offensive player of the year after scoring a league leading 18 goals, 42 points and nine game-winning goals. She also added a score at the CCAA conference tournament semifinal match.

Demery is joined by sophomore midfielder Alexia Poon, who scored seven goals in her breakout season. The duo led the Warriors to their second conference tournament appearance. Cal State Stanislaus finished 12-6-1 overall.
