Herald totaled ten points and four rebounds in the first half, powering Chestnut Hill College (1-0) to a 39-11 halftime advantage. In the second half, sophomore forward Lindsay Alexander (Huntingdon Valley, PA), sophomore guard Latoya Laing (Snellville, GA), junior forward Jenn Delahanty (Staten Island, NY), and the rest of the Griffins joined in. The Griffins shot 50.7% (37-for-73) form the floor and out-rebounded the shock 47-22 in the contest with Herald totaling 20 points, eight rebounds, a block, and two steals. Alexander supplied a double-double effort with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Laing was 4-for-6 (66.7%) from three-point territory and matched her career-high with 14 points (2/20/10 @ Concordia College) while Delahanty totaled ten points on a 5-for-9 (55.6%) shooting clip and grabbed four rebounds in just 12 minutes of play.
The Lady Shock was led by sophomore guards Angelica Navarez (Hagerstown, MD) and Molly Walters (Pensacola, FL). Navarez recorded 11 points while Walters added ten points and four rebounds to the Lady Shock effort.
The women’s basketball team returns to action at Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, November 17, when they host the University of the District of Columbia in a 6:00 p.m. contest.
