Belmont Abbey upends 20th-Ranked Limestone 20-17

The Belmont Abbey wrestling team opened its 2010-11 dual meet season with a 20-17 upset win over the 20th-ranked Limestone Saints this afternoon. Today's match was held outside on the quad, in front of over 300 students, faculty and staff on a sun-splashed 72 degree day in Belmont. It was the first outdoor match in the six year history of Belmont Abbey wrestling.

Five Crusaders won their respective matches, including a pin by Shane Summerlin at 125 and a technical fall by reigning national qualifier Jake Varilek at 165. Will James (141), Appolon Jean-Paul (157) and Nick Rees (197) all won by decision.
