Adams State College's Heinbaugh nabs RMAC Weekly honor

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- After picking up Adams State Bankers Classic Tournament MVP honors on Saturday night, Adams State College's Seth Heinbaugh (Prescott Valley, Ariz.) has been named as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Baden Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.  The 6-foot-5 senior averaged a double-double (11.0 points, 10.0 rebounds) per game during the Grizzlies' 3-0 week.

He tallied 24 defensive rebounds in the Grizzlies' three victories, the most of any player in the RMAC and had 30 total rebounds, tied for the most in the RMAC.  He also added five steals and a blocked shot as the Grizzlies won at Northern New Mexico last Tuesday before defeating Tennessee Temple and Oakwood (Ala.) in the Adams State Bankers Classic over the weekend.

Heinbaugh, who is just eight rebounds away from the 500 mark for his career, had an impressive 18 rebounds in the 100-64 Saturday night win over Oakwood, including 14 on the defensive end.  He also added two steals in that win after tallying six defensive rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal in Friday night's 88-67 win over Tennessee Temple.

The Bradshaw Mountain High School product also helped the Grizzlies outscore their opponents by 23.0 points per game as the Grizzlies have claimed their first 3-0 start in a quarter-century under new head coach Louis Wilson.

As a team, the Grizzlies are averaging a RMAC-high 14.3 steals per game and lead the RMAC in field goal percentage defense (.357).  They are also second in the RMAC in blocked shots (5.7) per game.

The Grizzlies are off for the Thanksgiving holiday and will then return to the floor to begin a 22-game conference schedule on Friday, Dec. 3 at Colorado State-Pueblo, which went 1-1 at its Al Kaly Classic last weekend.
