2010 All-CCAA Women's Soccer Team Announced

WALNUT CREEK – UC San Diego placed a league-high seven players on the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) all-conference team that was announced on Thursday. Cal State L.A. was second with six selections.

Cal State Stanislaus rookie forward Karenee Demery was the top individual honored as she was named the CCAA’s Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. UC San Diego forward Annette Ilg was selected Newcomer of the Year, while Cal State L.A. defender Melina Barragan and Chris Chamides were named Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.

UC San Diego and Cal State L.A. each placed a conference-high three players on the first team. Junior goalkeeper Kristin Armstrong, junior midfielder Anne Wethe and junior defender Lisa Bradley represented the Tritons on the first team, while senior forward Liz Franco, senior midfielder Stacey Rodwell and Barragan were first-team picks for the Golden Eagles.

Chamides guided Cal State L.A. to a 14-3 overall record, 13-3 conference mark, the CCAA’s South Division title and the No. 1 seed in this week’s CCAA Tournament. It marks the second straight year that Chamides has been honored as the conference’s Coach of the Year.
