NSIC Soccer All-Conference Release

NSIC Offensive Player of the Year 
#4 Ashlee Ellefsen
F, Sr., Hugo, Minn.
Bemidji State

Ashlee Ellefsen played a major roll in Bemidji State’s success this season. The senior led the NSIC in shots per game (4.23) and was second in assists with six. She was also tied for fifth in points (1.23) and seventh in goals (5). The all-time leader in points, goals and assists at Bemidji State was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week back on September 7th after scoring two game winning goals that week. In the Beaver’s 3-2 win over Winona State, Ellefsen score a goal and assisted on two others as BSU handed the Warriors their only loss in league play this season.

Defensive Player of the Year
#1 Anna Belpedio
GK, Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.
Winona State

Anna Belpedio allowed only seven goals in 13 NSIC matches this season. She allowed more than one goal in only one match this season while charting a league high seven shutouts. She charted a .877 save percentage while averaging 3.85 saves per match as the Warriors won their seventh straight NSIC Regular Season Championship.

NSIC Newcomers of the Year
#13 Jennifer Deroo
F, Fr., Anoka, Minn.
Winona State

Jennifer Deroo made her presents known in the NSIC in her rookie campaign. She led the league in points with 21 and was tied for the league lead in goals with nine. She was also tied for second best in the league in game winning goals with three. She was also named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week twice, once for a four goal weekend and then for a netting a hat trick against MSU Moorhead the last weekend of the season.

NSIC Coach of the Year
Molly Grisham
Wayne State

Wayne State has made dramatic improvements under Molly Grisham in her first two years at the helm. After taking over a team that went 1-18-1 in 2008, Grisham went 4-15 in 2009. This season she led the Wildcats to an 8-5-5 mark and a 4-4-5 NSIC record, one point shy of making the NSIC Tournament. The Wildcats finished the season strong winning four of their last six and going unbeaten in their last four.
