KWC’s Rowe Selected as GLVC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Kentucky Wesleyan College junior guard Kristen Rowe (Burkesville, Ky./Cumberland County) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Womens’ Basketball Player of the Week. Rowe helped the Panthers open the 2010-11 season with a 2-0 record over the weekend.

In Kentucky Wesleyan’s 69-47 win at Lambuth on Saturday, Rowe collected her first career double-double with a game-high 14 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. She was 5-of-8 from the field, knocked down both three-point attempts and was a perfect 2-of-2 at the free throw line.  Rowe also added three assists and a steal on the day.

She returned in Kentucky Wesleyan’s 81-77 overtime victory against visiting Wayne State on Sunday to pour in a game-high 22 points. Rowe was 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-5 from the free throw line. In addition, she again battled on the boards to pull down a team-high seven rebounds and also posted a game-high six assists.

For the week, Rowe averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. She shot 65 percent from the field, 60 percent from the three-point line and converted all seven free throw attempts.
The Panthers (2-0) will next host Asbury on Thursday.

Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Jenny Turpel, Missouri-St. Louis’ Caitlyn Moody, Quincy’s Ali Schwagmeyer, Saint Joseph’s Tatiana Ortiz, Southern Indiana’s Kristin Raker and UW-Parkside’s Brittany Beyer.
