Anderson, Stedman and Jones Earn All-New England Honors

WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Juniors Desmond Anderson, David Stedman and Victor Jones of the University of New Haven football program have all been selected to the 2010 New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team, announced on Friday, November 19 by the association. The team is comprised of 31 players representing 21 different institutions located in the New England region.

The 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Champions were one of three institutions to earn three selections to the team. Furthermore, nine players were selected to the team from the NE-10.

The cornerback from Jacksonville, Fla. led the way for the Chargers secondary this season. Anderson posted seven interceptions, a mark that ranked him third in the NCAA Division II and first in the Northeast-10 Conference. He picked off multiple passes in two games this year, including a career-high three interceptions in a 34-17 victory at Setan Hill University. He also recorded 53 tackles, one fumble recovery and two pass breakups on the season.

Stedman and Jones were crucial components of the NE-10’s second ranked scoring offense this year. The left guard from Hasbrouck Heights, N.J. was the focal point of the Chargers offensive line, a unit that provided lots of running room for Jones in the backfield. Jones amassed 1021 yards on the ground this season, a figure that placed him atop of the Northeast-10 Conference. He scored 11 touchdowns, including four games with two scores. Jones averaged 5.1 yards per carry, 117 total yards per game and also collected four passes for 32 yards on the season.
