HONOLULU, Hawai'i — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team was swept 11-25, 15-25, 18-25, by Hawai'i Pacific University in Pacific West Conference action on Saturday night. The loss culuminated a four-match road trip in which the Lady Penguins struggled offensively, posting just a .088 hitting percentage.
Freshman Ria Falealili had six kills for the Lady Penguins (3-23/0-14). Sophomore Ashlee Sand added five kills and freshman Hannah Stocking added four in the loss. Freshman libero Ashley Pittman dug out 16 balls and Stocking came up with 11 digs.
The second-place Sea Warriors (16-4/10-3) were led by Brittney Wood's 10 kills. Kyra Pelayo led all players with 18 kills. HPU placed five service aces while Dominican did not record any.
The Lady Penguins will play their final PacWest home match of the season on Saturday, November 6 when Notre Dame de Namur University visits. The last match was a close four-set victory for NDNU, who edged the Lady Penguins by a total of 10 points. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Conlan Center.
