Papich recorded the first double-double of her young career after grabbing 12 rebounds and scoring 17 points in a 66-51 victory over Molloy. In the win, the true freshman sparked Gannon to an 18-3 run, scoring 11 points over a four minute span. She also had three steals, two rebounds and a blocked shot during the run, giving the Lady Knights a 53-35 advantage with 5:49 left to play.
In total against Molloy, Papich shot 7-of-12 from the field and added five steals, three assists and one block.
The following night against Wilmington (Del.), Papich grabbed seven rebounds and scored six points. She also added two assists, one steal and one block in Gannon’s 75-50 victory. For the weekend Papich was 7-of-8 from the free throw line and shot 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from the field.
Papich is averaging 13.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.3 steals through four games this season. She has started every game and is shooting 45.5 percent (20-of-44) from the field.
Gannon (3-1) will play its first home game against Central State on Thursday, December 9. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
