Misenheimer, N.C.----Eleven student-athletes representing eight different institutions make up the 2010 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division men’s soccer team. South Atlantic Conference champion Wingate University leads the way with four players on the all-state team with two near-unanimous picks and a three-time All-State selection.
Bulldog senior midfielder Luke Mulholland (Preston, England) is a three-time All-State pick. He is joined on the prestigious team by senior forward Jamie McKenna (Blackpool, England), freshman defender Gui Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and senior goalkeeper Joey Calandra (Mount Pleasant, S.C.).
In 19 matches for the Bulldogs, Mulholland netted a pair of goals with 10 assists, helping on Wingate’s last three overtime game-winners. Mulholland finished the year in the nation’s top-15 in assists per match and ranks 13th all-time in the SAC record books with 100 career points. In addition to a three-time All-State honor, Mulholland is a three-time All-American and Daktronics All-Region team member. The midfielder is also a four-time All-SAC choice with a SAC Player of the Year award to his credit in 2009.
On the front line, McKenna started in 18 matches for the NCAA Division II play-off participants. He posted 29 points with 13 goals and three assists, leading the Bulldogs to a 15-4 overall record. McKenna was tabbed a first team All-SAC and Daktronics first team All-Region selection, leading the SAC with seven game-winners. The senior ranks in the top 30 nationally in goals and points per game along with total points and total goals.
In his first collegiate season, Andrade started in 18 matches with his lone goal coming in early October. Andrade anchored a Wingate defense that allowed only 21 goals in 20 matches this season. An All-SAC first team and Daktronics All-Region second team choice, Andrade led the Bulldogs to a SAC regular season title and berth into the NCAA II tournament.
Calandra is the North Carolina All-State goalkeeper and fourth and final selection from Wingate. The senior racked up over 1,670 minutes in net with a slim and SAC-leading goals against average of 0.92. Calandra posted six shutouts on the year, turning away 46 shots leading the Bulldogs to a 15-4 season and berth into the national tournament. For his efforts, Calandra was named a first-team All-SAC and second-team Daktronics all-region goalkeeper.
The squad consists of student-athletes from NCAA II, NCAA III and NAIA colleges and universities in North Carolina. The state’s sports information professionals submitted nominees that were narrowed down to the final three forwards, four midfielders, three defenders and one goalkeeper. More than 850 student-athletes have been recognized on NCCSIA all-state teams since 2003.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The organization seeks to promote collegiate athletics and student-athletes at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCSSIA selects All-State teams for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, softball and baseball on the College (Division II, III, NAIA) and University (Division I) levels. More than 750 student-athletes have been recognized on NCCSIA All-State teams since 2003.
