UCO players earn All-LSC North honors; Bronchos fall in men's basketball poll

RICHARDSON, Texas (Dec. 7) – Central Oklahoma had two players recognized by the Lone Star Conference Tuesday when Dauntae Williams was named the North Division Offensive Player of the Week on the men’s side and Alyssa Fuxa was selected North Division Defensive Player of the Week for the women.

Williams averaged 28.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals a game while shooting 58.1 percent from the field last week as the Bronchos split a pair of road league crossover games.

The senior guard from Missouri City, Texas had 32 points, eight rebounds, four steals and two steals in a tough 75-73 loss to Incarnate Word and came back two days later with 24 points, five boards, four assists and three steals in a 79-66 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Fuxa led UCO’s interior defense that paved the way for a pair of conference crossover wins, averaging 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds a game (6.0 defensive) as the Bronchos beat UIW 71-61 and TAMUK 82-52.

The junior forward from Garber had 14 points and eight rebounds (three defensive) against UIW as UCO limited the Cardinals to 29 second-half points and she followed with a career-high 13 rebounds (nine defensive) when the Bronchos held TAMUK to 28.3 percent shooting from the field.

Both UCO teams return to action Saturday, hosting Angelo State for a league crossover doubleheader.  The women’s game tips off at 2 p.m. and the men follow at 4 p.m. at Hamilton Field House.


KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Dec. 7) – Central Oklahoma fell seven spots in the NABC/Division II Coaches’ Poll Tuesday after the Bronchos suffered their first loss of the season last week.

UCO dropped a 75-73 decision at Incarnate Word last Saturday before bouncing back two days later to beat Texas A&M-Kingsville 79-66.  The Bronchos, now 8-1 on the year, return to action Saturday when they host Angelo State at 4 p.m.

Bellarmine (Ky.) took over the top spot in the top 25 rankings after defending national champion Cal Poly Pomona lost two games and tumbled to 16th.  Findlay (Ohio) is second in the poll, followed by Winona State (Minn.) and West Liberty (W.Va.).

Tarleton State is the only other Lone Star Conference team in the rankings, coming in at No. 13.
