Ohio Valley University youth baseball clinics offered this winter

VIENNA, WV (December 2, 2010) – Local baseball players will have an opportunity to advance their skills Saturday, December 18 as Ohio Valley University presents winter baseball camps for players in grades 1-12.

The camp on December 18 will have two sessions for players in grades 1-6 and 7-12. The first session will focus on hitting for youth in grades 1-6. The clinic will take place from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the cost for this camp is $25. The second session, which will also focus on hitting, will be held for youth in grades 7-12. This clinic will take place from Noon – 3:00 p.m. and the cost is $40. Both camps will take place at Garman Hall on OVU’s South Campus and registration for each camp session will begin one hour before the start time of the camp.

Additional baseball camps will be held in January and February 2011. A hitting day clinic for grades 7-12 will be held on January 14 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and January 15 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The cost is $40 for each day or $75 for both days per participant. The session for grades 1-6 will be held on January 15 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and will cost $25 per participant.

A pitching and catching clinic will be held on January 22 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. for grades 1-6 and from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. for grades 7-12. The cost is $25 for grades 1-6 and $40 for grades 7-12. A hitting and pitching clinic will be held on January 29 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon for grades 1-6 and from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. for grades 7-12. Cost per participant is $35 for grades 1-6 and $40 for grades 7-12.

A hitting clinic for players in grades 7-12 will be held on February 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and February 12 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. The cost for this clinic is $40 for each day or $75 for both days.

All camps include instruction through drill work, written and verbal evaluations, and instruction by OVU coaching staff and players. Lectures will be given on hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, and “Mind, Body & Soul”.

Instructors for both clinics will include OVU Head Men’s Baseball Coach Bob Crawford and varsity members of the OVU Fighting Scots men’s baseball team.
