Miners ranked 13th in final NSCAA men's soccer rankings for 2010 season

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team reached its highest-ever national ranking in the final poll of the 2010 season released Tuesday, as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America had the Miners at No. 13 in NCAA Division II to close out the year.

The Miners were ranked among the top 25 in the nation in the final three Hendrickscars.com polls of the year, beginning with the Oct. 26 rankings that had them at No. 25. S&T moved up to No. 16 a week later, then fell back to 21st after losing to Northern Kentucky in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.

S&T knocked off then-No. 12 Ashland 3-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Midwest Regional, then dropped a 3-2 decision to NKU – who would go on to win the national championship – in the regional finals. The Miners finished the season with a record of 11-6-3, with all six setbacks coming against teams that reached the post-season. The 11 wins were the second-most for a Miner team in school history.
