MacLeod, a Michigan native, also serves as the Operations Manager of WMVG/WKZR Radio. MacLeod made his GC debut s 1978 broadcasting Georgia College baseball, and he has earned the title of “Voice of the Bobcats”. This marks the 21st consecutive season WKZR-FM 102.3 has broadcasted Georgia College basketball. The Milledgeville radio station broadcasts all of the Bobcats home and away games.
Highlights of his more than 30 years behind the GC microphone include trips to the NAIA baseball World Series in 1985, the NAIA basketball national championship tournament in 1990, trips to the NCAA II College World Series in 1995 and 2010, and to the NCAA II Basketball Tournament in 1996,‘97,‘99, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010.
MacLeod began his broadcasting career in 1973 on radio station WKMI in Kalamazoo, Michigan, as a sports reporter. He worked at WKMI for four years until earning his degree in 1977 from Western Michigan University.
After his graduation from Western Michigan MacLeod came to Georgia in 1978 as the sports director for WXLX Radio in Milledgeville.
He’s a three-time winner of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Award and is an active board member of the Bobcat Club.
MacLeod and his wife Susi have two daughters, Heather and Leigh. Scott is the first inductee for the GC Hall of Fame from outside the Georgia College athletic department.
MacLeod will join previous inductees Jennifer Joiner from softball, Phil Arp, John Kurtz, Rusty Kea, Greg Winters and Tom Gorman from baseball, Duward Whelchel, Julia Roudkovskaya, Anna (Haggkvist) Sundstrom, Jay Torrence and Lilia Biktyakova from tennis, Robert Williams, Leonard Scott and Julius Joseph from men's basketball, Sherita Ballard from women's basketball, David Robinson and Alex McMichael from golf, Missy (Thomas) Swicord from gymnastics and former athletic director and golf coach Michael Peeler.
MacLeod, tennis’ Nancy Groesch, gymnast Yeini (Gutierrez) Thompson, tennis’ Lars Lindblom, and baseball’s Keith Slocumb will be honored as part of Homecoming/Alumni Weekend Saturday, Feb. 19. They will be recognized at halftime of the men's game of a basketball doubleheader against Columbus State University and again at a formal ceremony in the Magnolia Ballroom, tentatively set for a 7 p.m. start.
