Flyers earn academic honor for third-straight year
ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University women’s soccer team has earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the Flyers’ work in the classroom during the 2009-10 academic year.
It is the sixth time the women’s soccer program has earned the NSCAA honor since the award began in 1996. A total of 441 women’s soccer squads posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the award.
“We want to represent Lewis University our absolute best both on the field and in the classroom,” head coach Chris Koenig said. “Our players work very hard to be true student athletes and I’m proud of what they have accomplished the past year. We will continue to work hard to improve both as athletes and as students as we move forward.”
Lewis’ 3.32 grade point average ranked fifth in the 15-team Great Lakes Valley Conference.
