HPU Men’s Basketball Falls To Texas A&M International

Honolulu, HI (12/15/10) – At the Neal Blaisdell Center, the HPU men’s basketball team was defeated by Texas A&M International University, 56-45. HPU falls to 3-7 while the Dustdevils improve to 7-4.

Jason Jackson led the Sea Warriors with 10 points and six rebounds. LaBrent Chappell and Keenan Prince each added seven points.

Luis Gomez led TAMIU, scoring a game-high 13 points.

HPU struggled from the field, shooting just 26% from the floor while the Dustdevils shot 48%. HPU held a 15-12 lead midway through the half, as baskets by Kyle Allen (4 pts) and Kameron Steinhoff (2 pts) paced the Sea Warriors to the early lead. TAMIU responded, closing the half on a 15-4 run to take a 12-point lead into halftime.

The Dustdevils used a 10-0 run early in the second half to take a commanding lead.

HPU next plays Thursday, December 30, versus Concordia University (Mich.). Tipoff at the Neal Blaisdell Center is set for 7:30 p.m.
