Gannon Men's Basketball Team Concludes Finals Week with Home Contest Saturday Night Against Urbana

The Gannon men's basketball team finally returns home Saturday, December 18 when it hosts NCAA Division II Independent Urbana at the Hammermill Center. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. It will be the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader that kicks off with the women's game at 5:30 p.m.

Gannon (2-2) has dropped back-to-back road games since opening the campaign with two victories during the 27th Annual Gary Miller Classic. Saturday's contest will end an 11-day lay-off for the Golden Knights, who just finished final exams this week.

Head coach John T. Reilly's squad has dropped three straight games to Urbana, including a 79-70 loss December 4 on the road. Gannon rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to tie the game, but was unable to take the lead. Gannon has shown the ability to shoot the ball this season, ranking second among Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams and 68th nationally in three-point field goals per game (7.5).

Urbana (2-10) rides a three-game losing streak into Saturday's game after consecutive losses to Edinboro (69-62), Indiana (Pa.) (87-63) and Mercyhurst (88-71). The Blue Knights ruined Gannon’s season opener last year with a 73-43 victory at the Hammermill Center. It was Gannon’s first season-opening loss since a 103-99 double-overtime loss to Pitt-Johnstown in the 1995-96 opener.
